Research Scientist, Machine Learning Optimization

Job Description

Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Scientist to join their Machine Learning and Optimization (MLO) team in Bangalore. The MLO team focuses on enabling efficient, adaptable, and performant large models. The Research Scientist will contribute to foundational research in machine learning, including advancements in machine learning architectures, optimization algorithms, reinforcement learning, and sampling techniques. The role involves applying research to Google product launches and collaborating with other research fields to develop solutions for machine learning and AI.Responsibilities include:

• Designing, implementing, and evaluating models and software prototypes.
• Analyzing the ML aspects of foundational models and their implementation on neural accelerators.
• Reporting research findings and developments.
• Collaborating with teams to meet research goals.
• Working with external collaborators and maintaining relationships with research labs.
• Ensuring ethical development of AI.

Requirements:

• PhD in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in areas such as large foundational models, ML+Systems, optimization, learning theory, computer vision, NLP.
• Experience with ML frameworks (e.g. JAX) and training large models.
• Experience working in industry on projects from proof-of-concept to implementation.
• Passion for AI, Optimization, and Efficiency.
