Job Description

Xaira Therapeutics, an innovative biotech startup, is seeking a Scientist II to join their Protein Biochemistry team. This role is crucial for the interdisciplinary team, contributing to antibody discovery, high throughput screening, and optimization for drug discovery.Responsibilities include:

• Building, adapting, and automating Yeast display systems.
• Establishing and optimizing technologies for data generation at scale.
• Designing and applying innovative selection techniques.
• Designing, setting up, and optimizing automation to characterize affinity and function.
• Working with NGS based pipeline for data analysis.
• Working with CRO partners for library synthesis, QC, and build.
• Contributing to technical reports and presentations.
• Staying updated with advancements in antibody engineering and protein design.

Requirements include:

• A strong foundation in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Ph.D. or M.S. with relevant experience is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with antibody engineering techniques such as yeast display.
• Experience in library design, build and validation.
• Experience in protein purification techniques.
• Familiarity with antibody binding assays and automating them.
• Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques, including mammalian tissue cell culture.
• Working knowledge of software and programming for large data set analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
