Job Description
Heartflow, a medical technology company, is seeking a Director of UX Design to lead the user experience vision and strategy for its innovative medical technology products. The Director will build and mentor a team of UX designers, ensuring a cohesive user experience across the product portfolio. This role involves championing user-centered design principles, collaborating with product management and engineering, and setting the standard for design excellence in a regulated environment. A significant focus will be on translating complex medical algorithms and data into intuitive user interfaces for clinicians.

Role involves:
  • Defining and championing the UX vision and strategy.
  • Building, mentoring, and growing a high-performing UX design team.
  • Establishing and enforcing design standards and best practices.
  • Driving user research initiatives to understand clinician workflows and needs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate user experience.
  • Collaborating with product managers to define user needs and inform product roadmaps.
  • Ensuring design activities comply with regulatory standards for medical devices.
  • Optimizing design processes, tools, and workflows.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.

Requirements:
  • Proven track record as a UX leader in complex products, preferably in medical devices or healthcare.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of UX designers.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in interaction design, visual design, information architecture, and user research.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into user experience strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks is preferred.
  • A BS/MS degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or related field.
  • At least 12 years of professional experience in UX design, with 5+ years in a leadership role.

Heartflow offers:
  • A reasonable estimate of the yearly base compensation range is $220,000 to $280,000 (for San Francisco Bay Area).
