Job Description
Heartflow is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its customer workflow systems. This role involves leading engineering teams responsible for customer-facing workflow systems, which are core to the customer experience. The Director will be responsible for scaling high-performing teams and driving the strategic direction and operational execution of the customer workflow platform.

Role involves:
  • Leading and growing multiple engineering teams through engineering managers.
  • Driving successful quarterly and long-range planning efforts.
  • Ensuring engineering teams execute with high quality and predictable velocity.
  • Owning the architecture and delivery of critical systems for image ingestion and data interoperability.
  • Overseeing the design and development of secure, scalable web applications.
  • Collaborating with Product, Design, Clinical, and Customer Success teams.
  • Ensuring systems meet privacy, security, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Partnering with peer engineering leaders to evolve shared architecture and tools.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience managing managers and leading multiple engineering teams.
  • Track record of successful planning and on-time delivery of complex software projects.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Technical depth in full-stack and distributed system design.
  • Familiarity with Python, Django, FastAPI, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, SQL and noSQL databases.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (DICOM, HL7, FHIR).
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years in engineering leadership, with at least 3 years managing engineering managers.
