Senior Applied Scientist / Data Scientist

Job Description

Sojern is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Applied Scientist / Data Scientist to enhance the performance of its targeting and optimization products. The Applied Science team at Sojern develops services and pipelines to optimize advertising campaign performance and applies machine learning at scale for thousands of customers.

The role involves working with a range of algorithms and methods, including Bayesian statistics, supervised learning, linear programming, and scaled AI/ML with Tensorflow/Vertex AI.

As part of the Science and Optimization team, the candidate will contribute to the full data product life-cycle, from prototyping to production development, A/B testing, and measurement.

What this role involves:

• Designing and maintaining machine learning models to optimize campaign targeting.
• Modeling key performance advertising metrics like conversion rates and click-through rates.
• Improving systems that optimize campaign performance and pacing.
• Implementing machine learning pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
• Writing and shipping production-level Python code.
• Writing and executing complex SQL queries to extract and transform data.
• Collaborating with applied scientists, software engineers, and product managers.
• Documenting code and processes for future reference and maintainability.
• Participating in the Agile development lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience building production-level ML and data products.
• Expert-level understanding of data science topics.
• At least two years of experience as an applied scientist / data scientist / ML engineer.
• MS or PhD in computer science or a quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in writing and deploying Python code into production.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Ability to design and apply machine learning models to solve business problems.
• Effective communication skills with applied scientists, data scientists, engineers, and product managers.
• Ability to evaluate, analyze, and interpret model results.
• Proficiency in complex data analysis using SQL/Jupyter notebook.
