People Operations Business Partner

Job Description

CookUnity is seeking an HR Business Partner to support employees in their New York, Toronto, and Miami facilities. This role will provide operational and strategic HR support, ensuring a safe, productive, inclusive, and engaging work environment. The HR Business Partner will be the direct point of contact for culinary, food safety, fulfillment, marketplace, and logistics groups, including exempt employees and a large multi-unit hourly workforce. This position is based in Brooklyn, with a hybrid work arrangement of 4 days a week in the office, and requires occasional travel to Toronto and Miami.Responsibilities include:

• Serving as the HR point of contact for the Operations Management Team.
• Partnering with Talent Acquisition, Payroll & Benefits, and Legal teams to manage the employee life cycle.
• Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Coaching and mentoring business partners in performance management and talent development.
• Managing employee relations and resolving issues through a systematic approach.
• Creating succession planning and talent development strategies.
• Managing physical and digital employee files.
• Assisting with disciplinary actions and terminations.
• Supporting organizational change initiatives.
• Conducting exit interviews and developing retention plans.

Qualifications include:

• 5+ years of HR generalist experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience dealing with employee relations caseloads.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting operations in Toronto is a plus.
• Experience supporting hourly, front-line employee populations.
• Experience working with HR systems (e.g., Rippling).
• Strong knowledge of employment and labor laws.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
