Job Description
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Grafana Cloud Observability team. This remote position is open to candidates in the Canadian MST/CST/EST time zones. The engineer will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Cloud Observability stack, focusing on collecting and visualizing metrics from various systems and applications. The role involves building and maintaining the backend of opinionated apps like Cloud Provider O11y, Database O11y, and K8s Monitoring, while collaborating with other teams to ensure seamless user experiences. Grafana Labs embraces open-source contributions and encourages engineers to augment projects like Alloy, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, and Beyla.
  • Developing and maintaining opinionated observability apps
  • Designing and implementing scalable integrations
  • Creating middleware components, SDKs, and libraries
  • Representing Grafana Labs in open source forums
  • Collaborating with product teams
  • Supporting the technical direction of the team
  • Participating in on-call rotations
  • 8+ years of experience with a programming language (Go preferred)
  • Experience with cloud-based software development
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.)
  • Experience delivering projects independently
  • Experience in a technical leadership role
