Job Description

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Grafana Cloud Observability team. This remote position is open to candidates in the United States (MST/CST/EST time zones). The engineer will contribute to the development and maintenance of Grafana Cloud, a composable observability platform integrating metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana.

The role involves building and maintaining the backend of opinionated apps like Cloud Provider O11y, Database O11y, and K8s Monitoring. The Staff Backend Engineer will design and implement scalable integrations, create middleware components, and collaborate with product teams to align features with wider product strategy and customer needs. They will also contribute to open-source projects and participate in on-call rotations.

  • Developing and maintaining observability apps

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience with a programming language (Go preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with cloud-based software development and production systems
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, OpenTelemetry)
  • Experience delivering projects from start to finish
  • Experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills
  • Experience participating in an on-call rotation and incident management
