FreeWill, an award-winning social-good startup, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team. The company has partnered with numerous nonprofits and facilitated significant charitable donations. This role offers the opportunity to make an impact in a mission-driven environment, working with a collaborative team in a fast-paced startup setting.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will report to the Platform Engineering Manager and play a crucial role in improving FreeWill's cloud and engineering platforms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Piloting technical initiatives to improve the quality, velocity, and sustainability of FreeWill's cloud and engineering platforms.
  • Clearly explaining solutions to complex problems and demonstrating the ability to pilot and impart knowledge effectively.
  • Fostering a culture of ownership, empowerment, and psychological safety while interacting with diverse teams.
  • Contributing ideas to improve product, technology, and team practices.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with AWS, specifically with serverless architecture (API Gateway, Lambda, Cloudfront, S3), EKS, and RDS.
  • Prior production experience with the Serverless Framework.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps toolsets for Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Bash or Python.
  • Experience scaling production cloud systems for complex web applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in secure cloud architecture, network design, and IAM governance.
