The ACLU is offering a Fall 2026 Fellowship Sponsorship within its Disability Rights Program. This opportunity is open to rising third-year law students and law graduates. The fellow will work on a litigation-focused project, contributing to the advancement of civil liberties for people with disabilities. This is a hybrid role with in-office requirements of two days per week or eight days per month.
What this role involves: - Conducting legal research and analysis.
- Drafting legal documents.
- Interviewing witnesses and potential clients.
- Participating in discovery and trial practice.
- Drafting and editing public education materials.
- Supporting ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys.
- Helping manage summer legal internship program and supervise student interns.
- Engaging in public speaking and attending meetings and/or conferences as needed.
What the ACLU requires: - J.D. or expected J.D. by spring 2026.
- Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, disability rights, and the disability community.
- Willingness to work closely with the Disability Rights Project through the funding application process.
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct complex legal analysis and fact-finding.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
