Director of Engineering (Data)

Job Description

Boulevard is seeking a Director of Engineering (Data) to lead and scale the technical foundation that powers its products. This role is responsible for the data platform, machine learning and AI capabilities, and core infrastructure systems. The Director will define and execute the long-term strategy that enables Boulevard to deliver trusted, intelligent, and real-time data products to its customers. Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, this role will play a critical leadership role at the intersection of infrastructure, data, and product.Boulevard is looking for someone with 10+ years of experience in data infrastructure, platform engineering, or machine learning, with deep technical expertise across systems design, distributed data processing, and data governance. What this role involves:

• Becoming an expert in the subject of business identity.
• Interacting with product and other functional teams to align our technical strategy with customer goals and business needs.
• Influencing long-term vision for Boulevard infrastructure and data platform.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate data strategy into product and business impact.
• Acting as a thought partner to the executive team on our long-term data vision.
• Driving development by establishing highly collaborative, transparent, and efficient execution practices.
• Working through the team to establish feedback loops that facilitate continuous improvement of the development process.
• Developing your team and organization through technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, hiring, and being the glue.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in data infrastructure, platform engineering, or machine learning, with deep technical expertise across systems design, distributed data processing, and data governance.
• 5+ years of people management experience, ideally including managing managers, with demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing teams.
• A track record of delivering business impact through strong cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering teams.
• Experience guiding the evolution of data platforms and ML systems in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• A passion for coaching, mentoring, and building culture, and the ability to inspire a team through clarity, context, and trust.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into technical roadmaps, balancing short-term execution with long-term vision.
