Hill & Knowlton is seeking a Director, Earned Media to lead work with Canadian technology, financial, and professional services brands. In this role, the Director will lead key accounts, focusing on earned media strategies. The ideal candidate possesses strategic communications experience, media relationships, project management skills, and client counseling abilities, pertaining to the Canadian media landscape.

Role involves:

  • Serving as the day-to-day client lead for high-profile accounts.
  • Acting as a strategic client counselor with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian media landscape.
  • Managing earned media campaigns and various projects.
  • Maintaining relationships with top-tier media contacts.
  • Mentoring junior team members in media relations skills.
  • Anticipating client needs and troubleshooting issues.
  • Managing account financials and contributing to growth and profitability.
  • Articulating ideas effectively to clients and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or journalism.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape and established relationships with journalists.
  • Ability to provide strategic counsel to clients and lead media relations campaigns.
  • Ability to work independently and drive work forward.
  • Experience providing counsel to clients and senior executives.
  • Aptitude for mentoring staff and leading teams.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify new business opportunities.
  • Experience in technology, financial, and professional services is an asset.
  • PR agency experience is an asset.
