Hill & Knowlton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Affairs Advisor to join their team in Montreal or Quebec City. This role involves supporting and executing strategic projects in various areas of public affairs, with a focus on government relations and communications. The ideal candidate is passionate, autonomous, a quick learner, and takes charge of mandate execution.

The Public Affairs Advisor will support client teams on a wide range of projects. Role Involves:

  • Working on client files under the supervision of directors and senior advisors.
  • Conducting research on contacts and obtaining their contact information.
  • Preparing agendas, activity reports, critical path plans, and meeting minutes.
  • Drafting briefing notes for clients according to instructions.
  • Drafting initial versions of presentations, press releases, and other informational documents.
  • Establishing connections with clients through emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Informing team members of client file developments and recommending updates.
  • Staying informed of changes affecting the government, policies, and affairs.
  • Building relationships with elected officials and public servants.
  • Anticipating the next steps in ongoing projects.
  • Identifying and sharing trends, situations, and contacts conducive to business development.
  • Transmitting H & K Stratégies news and invitations through their networks.
  • Participating in discussions on business development strategy, assembling promotional kits, and research and preparation for responding to calls for tenders.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (political science, international development, economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in a similar position.
  • Understanding and experience in public affairs and government relations, including legislative and regulatory procedures in Quebec.
  • Ability to work in a team, both within the agency and with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Creativity and initiative.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a high-performing team.
  • Strong interest in current events and critical analysis of the political context.
