Nubank is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to manage mission-critical Oracle Database environments. The engineer will play a strategic role in ensuring the SPEI database ecosystem's stability, scalability, and recovery readiness. This involves maintaining and deploying Oracle Database environments supporting 24/7 applications.

The role involves deep technical expertise in Oracle Database architecture, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), performance optimization, and experience with automation, monitoring, scripting in large-scale environments, and ETL common tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and deploy Oracle Database environments.
  • Implement and manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Perform SQL and instance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain backup strategies using RMAN.
  • Automate routine database tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or custom scripts.
  • Design and implement Grafana dashboards.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to implement Oracle environments in various settings.
  • Ensure database environments meet security standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis for database-related incidents.
  • Maintain detailed documentation.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and ASM.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and database schema design.
  • Advanced skills in tuning and optimizing Oracle databases.
  • Proficiency with RMAN for backup and recovery operations.
  • Desirable and truly valuable experience on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) architecture maintenance and patching
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Fortigate and PaloAlto Next Generation firewalls.
  • Functional knowledge of network management/observability tools like Panorama, Prometheus/Grafana, SolarWinds, Cisco ThousandEyes, etc.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure Governance fundamentals, such as Capacity Planning, Risk & Vulnerability Management, Incident & Change management.
  • Advanced Bash scripting for automating repetitive tasks.
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet or similar tools for infrastructure automation.
  • Expertise in creating and managing Grafana dashboards for database performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus for database monitoring and alerting.
  • Familiarity with setting up advanced logging and monitoring pipelines (e.g., Loki, ELK stack
