Job Description
Flow Traders is seeking a Core Data Engineer in Chicago to manage the lifecycle of fundamental data products. This role offers the chance to significantly impact the firm by ensuring high-quality, timely, and powerful data to drive strategic growth initiatives. The Core Data Engineer will be responsible for delivering exceptional data products that benefit every division within Flow Traders.

Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for timely and high-quality delivery of core data products.
  • Develop and own the end-to-end lifecycle of data products.
  • Define and manage project plans to assume ownership of data products.
  • Create and refine a common data model.
  • Investigate and maximize value from available data sources.
  • Explore, evaluate, and onboard additional data sources.

Requirements:
  • Excellent programming skills (any language, Python preferred).
  • Proficiency with Linux, SQL, relational databases, and version control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and familiarity with big data solutions.
  • Experience with Airflow, Kafka, and GCP (esp. GKE, Dataproc, and Big Query) highly desired.
  • Experience with Pandas, Spark, Apache Beam, Apache NiFi a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organized and able to manage and execute projects while triaging operational concerns.

Flow Traders offers:
  • Total compensation includes a base of $150,000 - $200,000 plus annual discretionary variable remuneration.
