Bitpanda is seeking a Principal Engineer to contribute to a world-class customer experience while ensuring platform scalability, performance, resilience, and security. The Principal Engineer will serve as a technical reference, mentor team members, and elevate engineering standards across the organization. This role involves guiding complex initiatives, researching new technologies, and collaborating with stakeholders to create architectural decision records.
    Responsibilities
    • Growing and inspiring the Product and Engineering organization.
    • Providing technical guidance for highly complex initiatives.
    • Conceiving plans and conduct research in relevant problem areas or new technology.
    • Gathering requirements and pave the way for consensus on the creation and adoption of architectural decision records.
    • Leading smaller teams of senior engineers to deliver high impact initiatives.
    • Analysing potential business opportunities for their benefits and risks.
    • Creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured architectural diagrams and technical documents.

    Requirements
    • Ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams.
    • Experience in large-scale development of customer-facing interfaces using Design Systems.
    • Proficiency with technologies like User Experience and Interface best practices, Design System, Monorepos, GraphQL (Java DGS Framework), Pipeline tooling (Gitlab Runners, Bash), Message-Driven Architecture (Apache Kafka), Databases and Caching (Postgres, Redis), Kubernetes and at least one of the following programming languages: Kotlin (Android), Swift (iOS), Typescript (Web/Node), Java.
    • Highly collaborative with strong relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
    • Several years of experience with a proven track record in front-end development (iOS, Android, or Web).
