Staff Engineer, Closures Structures

Job Description

Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Engineer to join their Closures Team. This role focuses on the design and delivery of automotive Closures Systems for Lucid's electric vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, learn quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of automotive Closures Structural parts and assemblies like Hoods, Fenders, Front and Rear Side Doors, Decklids and Tail Gates. Preference of aluminum or composite designs with knowledge of hinges and kinematic requirements from a blank page into production.

Role Involves:

• Designing automotive Closures Structural parts and assemblies.
• Collaborating with internal teams, external suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Interpreting analysis results to guide design evolution.
• Ensuring efficient manufacturing processes and build quality.
• Creating testing plans and coordinating physical tests.
• Coordinating virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of expertise in automotive Closures systems.
• Experience working with Class A surface data.
• Hands-on experience in prototype assembly and production assembly.
• Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection.
• Experience in full life cycle development.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
