The company is seeking a Software Development Engineer (Data Engineering) to join their team in Melbourne, Australia. This role involves working on complex big data problems and building scalable solutions within the entertainment industry. The engineer will collaborate with other talented engineers and contribute to shaping the future of entertainment.

The Data Engineering team is focused on building a top-tier data platform that powers the company's operations. The team manages data from in-house products and third-party services, centralizing it to drive smarter business decisions.

Role involves:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and Airflow.
  • Building and implementing secure and efficient data systems using AWS services and Terraform.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to transform data using dbt.
  • Monitoring and optimising data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Documenting end-to-end processes for knowledge sharing and scalability.
  • Implementing data governance practices.
  • Building and optimising real-time data pipelines using PySpark, Glue Spark, and Kinesis.
  • Participating in peer code reviews.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in data engineering.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or PySpark, with hands-on experience using cloud services such as Glue, Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda, S3 and DMS.
  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow), version control systems (e.g., GitHub), and big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
  • Experience designing and implementing modern cloud-based data platforms, preferably on AWS, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
