Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Materials Engineer, Castings, to lead the development and implementation of casting technologies. The ideal candidate will exhibit a can-do attitude, learn quickly, and excel in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in Newark, CA and is crucial for advancing Lucid's capabilities in luxury electric vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a subject matter expert for complex and structural castings (high pressure die casting, semi-permanent molding).
Provide manufacturing feasibility input to design engineering.
Author material and process standards for cast materials.
Develop and execute qualification plans to meet engineering requirements.
Troubleshoot, root cause, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Drive advancements in new castings technologies.
Coordinate CAE and physical validation testing.
Requirements:
8+ years of casting or process engineering experience.
Knowledge of process-structure-property relationships for cast materials.
Working knowledge of cast manufacturing methods and practices.
Ability to run casting flow simulations.
In-depth understanding of property evaluations.
Hands-on experience with standard material laboratory equipment and metal testing procedures.
BS/MS in Materials Engineering or related field.
