Staff Materials Engineer, Castings

Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Materials Engineer, Castings, to lead the development and implementation of casting technologies. The ideal candidate will exhibit a can-do attitude, learn quickly, and excel in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in Newark, CA and is crucial for advancing Lucid's capabilities in luxury electric vehicles.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a subject matter expert for complex and structural castings (high pressure die casting, semi-permanent molding).
• Provide manufacturing feasibility input to design engineering.
• Author material and process standards for cast materials.
• Develop and execute qualification plans to meet engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot, root cause, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Drive advancements in new castings technologies.
• Coordinate CAE and physical validation testing.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of casting or process engineering experience.
• Knowledge of process-structure-property relationships for cast materials.
• Working knowledge of cast manufacturing methods and practices.
• Ability to run casting flow simulations.
• In-depth understanding of property evaluations.
• Hands-on experience with standard material laboratory equipment and metal testing procedures.
• BS/MS in Materials Engineering or related field.
