Job Description

Niantic is seeking a Technical Art Manager for the Pokémon GO team. This role involves leading a team of Technical Artists, planning the creative process from prototyping to production. The Technical Art Manager will collaborate with cross-functional partners, provide leadership, and advocate for their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Technical Art, Art, Game Design, and UX Design leadership.
  • Build consensus with cross-functional leaders across Production and Engineering.
  • Provide leadership and be the strongest advocate for the Technical Art team.
  • Develop, mentor, and support team members.
  • Define strategy, priorities, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Build and manage team schedules.
  • Anticipate and recognize potential production issues and recommend solutions.
  • Foster Niantic’s culture and principles.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years leading or managing Technical Art teams.
  • Empathetic leader and supporter for the Technical Art team and workflows.
  • Project management experience in PC, console, or mobile game development.
  • Success in creating a collaborative culture.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous expertise in graphics focused areas of Technical Art.
  • Familiarity with game art production tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment.
  • Experience working on cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
