Manager, Machine Learning and Applied Science

Job Description

Metropolis is seeking a Manager of Machine Learning and Applied Science to lead a team of engineers and scientists. The Manager will oversee the development and deployment of high-impact models and algorithms, collaborating with various teams to define requirements and support production implementation.

The role involves:

• Leading the Machine Learning and Applied Science team.
• Guiding the teams technically.
• Managing the team through all phases of machine learning development.
• Staying ahead of research and industry trends.
• Collaborating with other Engineering and Product teams.
• Investing in the career development of the team members.
• Participating in talent acquisition processes.
• Establishing metrics to measure the productivity of the team.

The requirements are:

• PhD or MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research or a relevant quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of industry experience.
• 2+ years of experience as a hands-on senior, staff, or principal engineer.
• Expert level knowledge in Python and SQL.
• Proficiency in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Proficiency in edge computing, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with common program management and productivity tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
