Harbinger Motors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Powertrain team. This role involves designing and developing electric drive units for medium-duty trucks. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven engineer with experience in electric drive unit design and analysis, with knowledge of geared systems.

What This Role Involves:

  • Executing conceptual and detailed design tasks for powertrain mechanical elements.
  • Performing mechanical analysis (FEA/CAE) to optimize and validate solutions.
  • Performing test/validation of powertrain components/systems.
  • Performing engineering tradeoff studies between alternative solutions.
  • Interfacing with vendors and partners.
  • Participating in collaborative activities such as design reviews.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in electrical, computer, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Experience at the beginning of an automotive program building off of a clean slate
  • Experience working in CATIA for 3D design
  • Experience with electric powertrain sizing calculations, including gear ratio, torque/speed/power, etc.
  • Diverse skill set with ability to contribute on other activities outside of primary job responsibilities
