Senior Backend Engineer - Commerce

Job Description

Together AI is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and scale its commerce platform. The engineer will work on usage-based billing, payment processing, customer-facing analytics, and product entitlements, contributing to high-performance and reliable solutions across cloud-native services and globally distributed data centers.Role involves:

• Identifying, designing, and developing foundational backend services for the commerce platform.
• Analyzing and improving system robustness and scalability.
• Partnering with product teams to deliver solutions.
• Writing well-tested software and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Conducting design and code reviews.
• Participating in on-call rotation.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems and API microservices.
• Experience in designing, analyzing, and improving system efficiency and scalability.
• Understanding of operating systems concepts (multi-threading, memory management, networking).
• Expert-level programming skills in Golang, Rust, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Proficiency in IaC using Terraform, AWS CDK, or Pulumi; and in version control practices with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with payment processors (e.g., Stripe) and billing systems (a plus).
• Experience with Kubernetes or containers (a plus).
• Experience in building and operating data infrastructure (Kinesis, Airflow, Kafka, etc) a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
