Staff Data Engineer

Job Description

Adyen is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join their Reporting team in Amsterdam. Adyen is a financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to global customers.

The Staff Data Engineer will work on frameworks and data foundations that power reporting, collaborating with stakeholders and platform teams to enhance report generation and delivery. They will bridge the gap between frontend, backend, data, and platform engineering to architect scalable solutions.

Responsibilities include:

• Architecting and driving adoption of scalable data pipelines and reporting framework components.
• Continuously improving existing data systems for performance and scalability.
• Evaluating and integrating new data tools and technologies.
• Leading through influence and building strong relationships.
• Defining and advocating best practices for performance, code quality, and data governance.
• Guiding and mentoring other engineers.

Requirements:

• 10+ years in engineering, with 5+ years in a Senior or Staff Data Engineering role.
• Deep understanding of distributed data systems and tools: Python, PySpark, Airflow, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, SQL, Git.
• Expert understanding of Software and Data Engineering best practices and data governance.
• Excellent analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Self-starter capable of independently recognizing opportunities and owning projects.
