Software Engineer (Java)

Job Description

Adyen is seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to join their team in Madrid. Adyen is a financial technology platform that provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The ideal candidate will be a team player with an eye for detail, capable of taking ownership of projects, and passionate about writing testable code.

The Software Engineer will contribute to building and maintaining Adyen's distributed high-performance platform, collaborating across teams and time zones. This role offers the opportunity to launch code rapidly and iterate frequently, with full responsibility from initial design to implementation.

Role Involves:

• Building and maintaining Adyen's distributed high-performance platform.

• Identifying and improving parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Collaborating across teams and time zones to make things happen, review code and be open to feedback.
• Helping our core financial data processes and working on our finance infrastructure, to keep it scalable, reliable and secure

Requirements:

• Experience working with object-oriented programming languages (Java).
• Flexibility and team spirit.
• Eye for detail.
• Ability to take ownership and lead a project.
• Passion for writing testable code.
• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts.
• Full professional proficiency (written and verbal) in English.
• Proficient in creating performant database queries and table structures.
• Experience with Java 17, Web Services (RESTful) and SQL/PostgreSQL using MyBatis (ORM), Tomcat, Gradle, CockroachDB and Elasticsearch.
