PlayStation is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead its globally distributed team. This role involves managing engineers in Berlin, the US, and Australia, focusing on designing and scaling PlayStation’s data infrastructure for game streaming telemetry. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with Analytics, Applied AI, R&D, and Service Reliability Engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a geographically distributed team.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines.
- Serve as the main point of contact for key stakeholders, primarily in the US.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integration.
- Drive continuous improvement by introducing new technologies.
- Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of data solutions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing geographically distributed teams.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Expertise in time-series databases and building scalable data pipelines.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, Kafka, and real-time processing frameworks like Flink.
- Solid foundation in DevOps principles.
- Hands-on experience with software engineering in Scala, Python, or Java.
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and database systems.
