Senior Software Engineer II - Open Telemetry Projects

Job Description

Sumo Logic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join their Open Source/Open Telemetry Collector team. This team focuses on providing a next-generation data collector built on Open Telemetry, aiming to simplify and streamline the monitoring of complex distributed systems. The ideal candidate will design and implement features for a robust OpenTelemetry collection engine, write code with unit and integration tests, and contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project.Role involves:

• Designing and implementing features for OpenTelemetry collection engine
• Writing robust code with unit and integration tests
• Contributing to the upstream OpenTelemetry project
• Analyzing and improving the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems
• Collaborating within a team to respond to business needs
• Experience with CI and on-call production support

Requirements:

• B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
• 6+ years of industry experience with ownership
• Experience with GoLang or other statically typed language (Java, Scala, C++)
• Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
• Understanding of data structure performance characteristics
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and solve problems
