Junior Software Development Engineer - Backend, Verticals Team (@Remote, Chile and Colombia) at OfferUp

OfferUp is seeking a Junior Software Development Engineer to join the Verticals team. This team is responsible for the jobs, rentals, and services sections within OfferUp, playing a pivotal role in the marketplace's success. The role involves owning features from concept to completion, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams, writing well-architected code, and analyzing metrics for feature rollouts. This position is exclusively available outside of the US. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing new features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Maintaining code quality in existing applications.
• Creating solutions and frameworks to improve team efficiency.
• Participating in on-call rotations.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year in web services.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure via AWS.
• Strong sense of ownership and a track record of delivery.
• Passion for building new products in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, Scala, Golang, or a modern programming language.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design and microservices architecture.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, Information Science, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
