Job Description
Archer, an aerospace company, is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to ensure the safety of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The role involves collaborating with engineering disciplines to design high-reliability, safety-critical systems. The candidate will take ownership of safety requirements and assessments for vehicle systems, including Flight Controls and Powertrain systems and participate in vehicle-level safety analyses.

  • Defining safety requirements and assessments
  • Representing System Safety in decision-making and regulatory compliance
  • Contributing to System Safety processes and work methods
  • Developing and executing test plans in a simulation lab
  • Performing Zonal Safety Inspections
    Requirements:
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for learning and problem solving
  • BS, MS, or PhD in engineering or a related technical degree
  • 5+ years experience as System Safety Engineer
  • Experience with civil aircraft systems, especially Flight Controls and Powertrain systems
  • Experience with aircraft development phases
  • Experience performing safety analyses
  • Experience creating, validating, and verifying aircraft and system-level safety requirements
  • Experience being accountable for safety activities on a civil aircraft certification program
  • Detailed understanding of civil aviation standards, practices, and regulations
