Job Description
Archer Aviation is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to support manufacturing equipment and ensure smooth operation and maximum uptime of production. The engineer will participate in first piece builds, develop documentation for operator work standardization, manage procurement and deployment of new equipment, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This role involves driving actions to improve equipment performance and developing process inputs to MES and SCADA production systems.
Responsibilities: - Support manufacturing equipment on the in-house controls team.
- Participate in first piece builds.
- Develop documentation for operator work standardization.
- Manage the procurement, construction, acceptance, and deployment of new production/test equipment.
- Manage integrators during specification, design, buyoff, installation, and ramp of Electric Engine production/test equipment.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams.
- Drive actions to maintain or improve equipment performance.
- Develop process inputs to MES and SCADA production systems and launch the MES platform with production equipment.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.
- 8+ years related experience in medium to high volume manufacturing.
- Direct experience programming and troubleshooting industrial automation.
- Experience commissioning and improving Equipment.
- A record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement.
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance through MES algorithms.
- Strong hands-on and problem solving aptitude.
- Ability and drive to learn systems quickly.
- Experience developing production lines from prototype to production.
- Able to utilize structured problem solving techniques.
- Proficiency using Beckoff, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLC's.
- Expertise with HMI and SCADA based systems such as Ignition.
- Excellent communicator, both in presentations and written reports.
- Able to maintain organization and focus in a highly dynamic environment.
- Evidence of exceptional ability.
- Ability to travel 20% of the time.
Archer offers: - A base pay between $160,000 - $170,000.
- Location flexibility with ultimate base in San Jose, California.
- Travel flexibility for Machine Acceptance Tests or Machines Tryouts and related project meetings.
