Backend Engineer, Logistics

Job Description

Whatnot is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its Logistics team. Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe. The Logistics team focuses on all aspects of shipping for sellers and buyers globally. The ideal candidate will build systems and features to help Whatnot continue to grow. Team members are required to be within commuting distance of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or New York hubs.

Role Involves:

• Building systems and features for Whatnot's logistics operations.
• Implementing a robust carrier-first architecture.
• Engineering for massive scale and global reach.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages (Python, Elixir, JavaScript preferred).
• Excellent product instincts.
• Ability to mentor others and build inclusive teams.
• Strong ownership instincts.
• Proven track record of delivering features.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
• Experience with payment systems, infrastructure, and international commerce (nice-to-have).
• Start-up experience at a high-growth company (nice-to-have).
