Job Description
Whatnot is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their Platform Engineering team. This role involves developing and maintaining a scalable platform that enables Whatnot engineers to develop product features quickly while ensuring a stable and secure customer experience. The Engineering Manager will hire and develop engineers, collaborate with product and infrastructure engineering teams, and manage projects.
Role Involves:
- Hiring and developing engineers.
- Collaborating with product and infrastructure engineering teams.
- Planning and managing projects.
- Setting the strategic direction of the team.
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform.
- Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup.
- Technical leadership experience in large distributed systems.
- Experience leading a team of engineers.
- Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
