Whatnot is seeking a Software Engineer, SRE to join their team. The ideal candidate will work in cross-functional multidisciplinary teams, directly impacting the reliability of Whatnot's platform. They will minimize financial losses due to system availability, enable other teams to move quickly by minimizing outage risks, and contribute to solving complex technical challenges.
The role involves:
- Architectural changes to improve system reliability and scalability
- Observability improvements to reduce incident time-to-detection
- Stress testing tooling to ensure capacity for high-growth
- Chaos engineering tools to find and fix potential outages
- Reliable end-to-end communication with overflow protection
Requirements:
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience
- Experience with large distributed systems handling substantial traffic
- Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Exceptional coding skills
- Experience with Python, Elixir, JavaScript
- Experience in a public cloud environment (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform.
