Job Description
Whatnot is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Payments - Treasury team in Dublin, Ireland. This role is crucial for managing the flow and recording of money and credit in customer transactions globally. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Payments - Experience team and senior leaders across Whatnot to improve payment scale, reliability, and diversity of payment options. They will also work on fraud mitigation, transaction modeling, and tax improvements to enhance the international marketplace experience.
Role involves:
- Designing complex distributed systems.
- Defining technical roadmaps.
- Identifying areas for improvement.
- Leading cross-team solutions.
- Mentoring others and building inclusive teams.
- Owning projects from inception to maintenance.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Experience building scalable systems.
- Excellent product instincts.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of multiple programming languages (Python, Elixir, JavaScript preferred).
- Experience with payment systems and international commerce (nice to have).
- Startup experience at a high-growth company (nice to have).
