Job Description
West Cancer Center is seeking a Certified or Board-Eligible Medical Physicist to ensure the quality and safety of radiation therapy and imaging equipment. The Medical Physicist will collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and clinical staff to ensure precision and safety in radiation therapy. This role involves equipment calibration, dose verification, treatment planning, and quality assurance. The Medical Physicist also helps develop and maintain safety procedures and regulatory compliance across multiple sites. No nights, weekends, or holidays. Comprehensive benefits package.
Role Involves:
- Consulting with Dosimetrists, Physicists, and Physicians to develop and maintain a quality assurance program for radiation therapy modalities
- Performing IMRT/VMAT and SBRT treatment planning
- Conducting acceptance testing and commissioning of new radiation therapy equipment or procedures under supervision of the Chief Physicist
- Providing technical direction, training, and continuing education to junior Physicists and Dosimetrists
- Supporting Radiation Oncologists and Physicists with HDR and LDR brachytherapy planning and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and technical reports
Requirements:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Radiologic Physics, Engineering, or a related Physical Science field with a strong background in mathematics
- Minimum of three years of full-time equivalent experience in medical radiation physics
- Current certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics from the American Board of Radiology
- Demonstrated competency in medical physics and advanced assignments
- Ability to prepare complex technical documentation
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Independent decision-making and organizational ability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
