Tripadvisor is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Data Science Team. This person will help design and implement next-generation systems to enhance user travel planning. The role focuses on recommendation, personalization, generative AI, NLP, and improved user interaction across Tripadvisor Experiences, Accommodations, and Restaurants. The successful candidate will apply their modeling and engineering skills to various areas within the company, influencing the travel decisions of millions daily.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applying data science and machine learning to business opportunities.
  • Leading the design of machine learning models for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Automating ETL pipelines.
  • Prototyping, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining models in production.
  • Designing and analyzing AB tests.
  • Discovering new ways to analyze and interpret data.
  • Communicating experimental results to stakeholders.
  • Leading the determination of next steps for each project.

Requirements:

  • PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field preferred
  • Experience with LLM prompt engineering and AI agents
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Experience with Recommender Systems
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing
  • Strong background in machine learning and statistics
  • Solid foundation on data structures and algorithms
  • Proficiency in Python for numerical/statistical programming (Pandas/Numpy/Scikit-learn/PyTorch)
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries
  • Experience with big data technologies (Snowflake and Spark)
  • Knowledge of AB test design and analysis
  • Track record of leading the deployment and maintenance of models
  • 3+ years of relevant, practical experience
  • Experience with online businesses
