Box is seeking a Senior Staff Software Architect to join their Security, Enterprise, and Compliance (SEC) team. This individual will significantly influence the technical direction of the SEC Org and collaborate across various domains within Box. The role involves making key architectural decisions for Security Admin products powered by ML and compliance features, while also working with Engineering and Product leaders on prioritization and business trade-offs. They will also shape the technical roadmap for building large-scale data processing with quality gates and a developer-focused mindset.

This role offers the opportunity to define the next generation of Security Products in Box’s offerings.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive complex architectural decisions & trade-off discussions across 3 different verticals - Security, Enterprise Admin products and Compliance offering.
  • Coach and develop senior technical leaders
  • Contribute to and inform company objectives across team and function in creative, effective and diplomatic ways
  • Be hands-on working on code both in terms of prototyping as well as contributing production changes
  • Work closely with the engineering team and leadership to develop strategies for evolving the platform
  • Collaborate with Product Management to help refine requirements and break down complex projects into meaningful, deliverable units
  • Use a data driven approach to devise strategies for processing customer content while balancing requirements from a efficiency, quality and security perspective
  • Lead architecture-oriented discussions and the architecture working groups within SEC organization
  • Be the go-to person and a sounding board for the local teams in Poland

Requirements:
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of Software Development experience in distributed systems
  • 8+ years of experience in a Software Architecture oriented role
  • You are an advocate for a high quality of work and a guardian for service quality at every phase of development and operation
  • You have a passion for building highly available, efficient and scalable distributed systems at a global scale
  • You are excited about solving complex technical problems using data-driven solutions.
  • You act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities but at the same time have attention to detail when reviewing technical documents and product features
  • Experience in migrating monolith application to microservices
  • Experience working with large volumes of data and traffic and how to scale systems efficiently
  • Experience with SaaS offering that have 4 9’s or higher SLA requirements
  • Experience in processing data for use in AI/ML applications is a huge plus
  • Must be able to travel to the US (Redwood City, California) at least twice a year
