Zeals, a fast-growing tech company in Japan, is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their team. Zeals is focused on revolutionizing hospitality on the Internet through conversational commerce technology. The company has secured nearly $40 million in funding and is backed by Salesforce Ventures.

As a Backend Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend systems and infrastructure. The role involves developing robust APIs, optimizing server performance, and ensuring seamless integration with Frontend applications.

Role involves:

  • Development with a focus on Clean Architecture of new services in Golang, using REST and gRPC interfaces
  • Migration of interfaces from our legacy system as applicable (written in Python and Ruby).
  • Design and implement features aligned with DDD architecture while documenting API specifications and data flow.
  • Discover and triage issues with performance, reliability, maintainability, and extensibility.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable solution

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in development flow based on git and GitHub
  • 4+ years of experience (8+ for higher levels) in Software Engineering or a similar role, with preferably experience in Golang
  • Strong sense of testing, including unit tests and integration tests
  • Ability to communicate recommendations for improvements on current systems, processes, and services as needed
  • Exhibit a strong ability to adapt in a dynamic and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to solve problems, especially to identify the source of the problem, and create and test solutions
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, including setting up, configuring, and maintaining Elasticsearch clusters
  • Proven team-leading experience with the ability to mentor and guide team members
