Senior Director, Software Engineering

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the development of world-class traffic management capabilities. The ideal candidate will set the vision for the next generation of traffic management, capacity planning, and load testing practices at Affirm. This leader will hire and mentor engineers, support the broader engineering organization, and participate in roadmap planning.This individual will be responsible for traffic management, load testing, or capacity planning at scale. They will design and implement traffic shaping and load shedding systems and deliver complex engineering infrastructure projects.What this role involves:

• Setting the vision for traffic management, capacity planning, and load testing at Affirm.
• Hiring engineers with expertise in traffic management concepts.
• Leading annual peak season planning.
• Supporting the engineering organization by developing capacity planning and load testing tools.
• Participating in engineering-wide roadmap planning.

Requirements:

• Experience in traffic management, load testing, or capacity planning at scale.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing traffic shaping and load shedding systems.
• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering infrastructure projects.
• Ability to develop, hire, and partner with principal software engineers.
• Exceptional leadership skills to mentor engineers and leaders.
• Detail-oriented with strong opinions on technologies.
• Strong communication skills to convey vision to various audiences.
