Senior Director, Software Engineering

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the development of world-class traffic management capabilities. This role involves setting the vision for traffic management, capacity planning, and load testing at Affirm. The ideal candidate will hire and lead a team of engineers, support the broader engineering organization, and participate in roadmap planning.Role Responsibilities:

• Set the vision for traffic management, capacity planning, and load testing capabilities.
• Hire world-class engineers with expertise in traffic management concepts.
• Lead annual peak season planning.
• Support and partner with the broader engineering organization for capacity planning and load testing tools.
• Participate in engineering-wide roadmap planning.

Requirements:

• Experience in traffic management, load testing, or capacity planning at an organization with hundreds of millions of users.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing traffic shaping and load shedding systems at scale.
• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering infrastructure projects.
• Ability to develop, hire, and partner with principal software engineers.
• Strong leadership skills to mentor and manage high-potential engineers.
• Detail-oriented with strong opinions on technologies and immersed in day-to-day execution.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey vision to the team, organization, executives, and partners.
