Position Summary:
The Platform Software Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a common product line software platform that supports multiple embedded systems on the Midnight Aircraft. The management responsibilities include the full aerospace software lifecycle process, which includes development, verification, and certification. The platform team works with Archer application software teams to define product requirements and develop/deliver the software platform, which supports various aircraft embedded systems, including Electric engine control, battery management, and HV changing system.
What you’ll do:
Lead and mentor a world-class team with expertise in the development of flight-critical platform software complying with DO-178C. Define platform product requirements, software architecture, feature plan, and delivery schedule. Collaborate with systems and software teams to ensure the platform software design and architecture are consistent with application product requirements. Work with the broader Archer flight software team to develop and maintain Software processes. Support platform software integration with Archer embedded application teams. Ensure compliance with the software development and verification processes supporting the certification of safety-critical software following DO-178C. Lead the team through FAA Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits 1 to 4. Oversee the qualification of the tools to DO-330. Define and manage a detailed task breakdown to distribute work to team members and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor team performance. Continuously monitor and improve our SW release processes to ensure quality while maintaining rapid software releases. Foster team collaboration and promote and support personal development.What you need:
Experience leading an embedded software development team. At least a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree. Proficiency with embedded software, including development of low-level drivers, Real-time operating systems, software architecture design, and task scheduling. Proficiency with embedded C programming. Hands-on experience developing and testing safety-critical software systems in compliance with DO-178C (DAL-A or B) or similar standards (i.e., ISO-26262). Prior experience participating and contributing to FAA SOI Audits. Excellent organizational and communication skills.Bonus qualifications
Familiarity with embedded control system design and testing, including battery management systems and/or electrical motor control systems Familiarity with the Infineon Tri-core processor family. Familiarity with tools and technologies used for the development, testing, and analysis of DO-178C software, including Python testing. Familiarity with DO-330 Tool Qualification or similar software standards Familiarity with Code Collaborator, VS Code, Polarion (or other requirements management tools). Familiarity with Low-level embedded applications like boot loaders and drivers. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $163,200.00 - $204,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
