Job Description

Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, California, is seeking a Flight Controls Software - Systems Integration Lead. In this role, the individual will focus on integrating Archer’s fault-tolerant flight controls computer with other aircraft systems. The engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop, integrate, and test aircraft flight controls software, working closely with systems, verification, flight test, and integration teams. They will perform functional and requirement-based testing in various environments and manage problem reports, interfacing with the software development team for corrective actions. Further, the role involves supporting aircraft production, ground, and flight testing, and continuously improving processes to enhance safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, integrate and test the aircraft flight controls software
  • Closely work with aircraft systems, verification, flight test, and integration teams.
  • Perform functional and requirement-based testing on a variety of environments
  • Navigate through systems and software requirements
  • Manage and disposition problem reports found during test campaigns
  • Support aircraft production, ground and flight testing troubleshooting
  • Participate in planning, design, scheduling, prioritizing, and tracking the project.

Requirements include:

  • 10+ years of experience working with critical, complex, real-time embedded systems
  • Bachelor of Science in related field
  • Experience with fight controls, avionics, powertrain, or related systems
  • Working knowledge of hardware and software integration in a lab environment
  • Understanding of communication standards and protocols
  • Proficiency with C language
  • Fluency with widely used scripting languages like bash and Python
  • Must be on-site at Archer San Jose, CA office with ability to travel to Salinas, CA
