GiveWell is seeking a Senior Malaria Researcher to contribute to their ambitious research agenda on malaria. The Senior Malaria Researcher will play a crucial role in shaping research agendas, answering complex questions, and influencing grantmaking decisions related to malaria prevention programs. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on global health and well-being by directing hundreds of millions of dollars to cost-effective interventions.GiveWell's malaria grantmaking has previously consisted of vector control, seasonal and perennial malaria chemoprevention, and malaria vaccines. In the future, they may expand into new areas like case management and therapeutics.Role Involves:

• Creating and leading ambitious research agendas related to malaria prevention.
• Answering complex questions that will inform GiveWell’s grantmaking decisions.
• Combining rigorous evidence review, cost-effectiveness modeling, and thoughtful judgment.
• Communicating externally about your work.
• Mentoring and advising other researchers on the team.

Requirements:

• A quantitatively oriented advanced degree (e.g., in epidemiology, statistics, economics or related fields).
• Substantial professional experience in the malaria landscape (broadly defined).
• Alignment with GiveWell’s mission and methods.
• Curiosity and a willingness to interrogate others’ work.
• Ability to communicate confidence levels carefully and legibly.
• Appreciation for the value of an excellent reputation and strong relationships.
• Love for gnarly problems and a desire to find the most important questions to answer.
