Job Description

Vectra AI, a leader in AI-driven threat detection and response, is seeking an Engineering Director to lead a team within the Office of the CTO. This team will focus on building an advanced, cloud-native solution that blends AI (including Gen AI) with security expertise to enhance SOC capabilities. The solution will be open to rapid iteration, with initial customers already providing feedback.

The Engineering Director will be responsible for hiring a top-class engineering team, contributing to strategic planning, building a team culture that values rapid iteration, identifying and mitigating technical risks, mentoring team members, participating in architectural discussions, and interfacing with the product organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire a top-class engineering team
  • Be a key partner in the strategic planning process identifying key technical decisions, milestones, roadmap, etc.
  • Build team culture which values rapid iteration with feedback over big bang delivery
  • Identify potential technical risks and quickly determine whether they are real risks
  • Mentor and grow team members in both their technical and soft skills
  • Participate in architecture discussions and guide the technical direction of the team
  • Interface with product organization to keep stakeholders abreast of progress and discuss what maturing features should be implemented in core product offering

Requirements:

  • Experience leading teams of senior and junior engineers on complex projects with external dependencies
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in all phases of a software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of software design principles and leading software development practices
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills
  • Track record of getting things done, taking initiative and challenging assumptions
  • Experience with real-time processing pipelines and surrounding technologies
  • Experience with delivering solutions involving ML, expert systems, or AI within streaming/real-time constraints
  • Solid grounding in the technology of at least one cloud environment (AWS preferred)
