Job Description
Vectra AI is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join its Emerging Technologies team within the Office of the CTO. This role will contribute to the company’s next generation of AI-based products and services, focusing on data architecture, technology qualification, scalability, and engineering tasks vital to converting research prototypes into large-scale, performant, and reliable systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate through early-stage research challenges while working independently in their area of focus, maintaining a bias toward converging research into concrete specifications and implementations.

Responsibilities:
  • Envision, develop, and test prototypes.
  • Transition prototypes into long-term supportable states.
  • Research emerging technologies.
  • Promote continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Provide technical leadership on core design decisions.
  • Architect scalable and robust systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience with modern applications and distributed systems.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Strong fundamentals in designing large-scale data processing systems.
  • Experience designing and interacting with complex data models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, C/C++, or Rust).
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and data processing frameworks.
