Job Description

Vectra AI is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to contribute to the technical vision and delivery of features in their Application Data Platform. The Application Data Platform offers both internal developers and customers a developer experience, empowering them to build features. The platform supports both analytical and operational use cases, presenting challenges across data modeling, performance, and scalability.

The Senior Data Platform Engineer will collaborate with Application Data Platform leadership to build and deliver the technical roadmap. This role involves writing design documents, delivering platform components, fixing bugs, optimizing code, and mentoring other engineers within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing production-grade pipelines and systems.
  • Writing and deploying production-grade code.
  • Contributing to automated tests and end-to-end software delivery.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams and engineers.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and leading end-to-end projects.
  • Evaluating and identifying appropriate technologies to solve problems.
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer owning data production platforms.
  • Strong applied software development experience.
  • Experience with real time or near real time data processing, databases and data management.
  • Experience with an object oriented programming language (Python preferred).
  • Strong data structures and algorithms fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience with a source control system (git preferred).
  • Experience with containerization or virtualization systems (Docker preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Cloud Providers (AWS preferred).
  • Debugging experience.
