Experienced Animator

Job Description

Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking an Experienced Animator to join their team in Vancouver, Canada. The animator will be responsible for creating animated characters and objects that meet the required direction. They must possess the ability to animate both primary and secondary characters, utilizing traditional methods and computer graphics systems to create the desired performance of digital characters within a shot. Emphasis will be placed on conveying emotion through body language and facial expressions/dialog as required by each specific project. Role involves:

• Creating animated characters and objects
• Animating primary and secondary characters
• Conveying emotion through body language and facial expressions
• Meeting schedules and show deadlines
• Participating in dailies, rounds, and team reviews
• Problem-solving and sharing information with the team
• Following shot turnovers, dailies, briefings/notes, and feedback

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of the principles of animation
• Knowledge of applicable software packages, including Maya
• Background or experience in fine art
• Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and life drawing skills (desirable)
• Minimum of 3+ years of production experience or feature film experience (preferred)
• Demo reel illustrating relevant artistic and technical experience
