Job Description

Sony Imageworks Québec is seeking a Lighting Artist to design and implement lighting for characters and environments, ensuring they align with the artistic direction of the production. The Lighting Artist will work on various scenes, develop solutions to meet artistic and technical direction, and maintain efficiency while meeting quotas. They will also collaborate with supervisors and peers to exchange production-related information.

Role Involves:

  • Designing and implementing lighting for characters and environments.
  • Ensuring continuity within sequences.
  • Developing solutions that meet artistic/technical direction.
  • Interacting with supervisors and peers.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX.
  • Ability to script in MEL, Perl, and Python.
  • Knowledge of Renderman shading, direct volume rendering, and ray tracing.
  • Knowledge of compositing software like Nuke is desired.
  • A 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate is preferred, or 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must provide a demo reel showcasing relevant artistic and technical experience.
