Job Description

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Core Web Engineer to contribute to its trading infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for developing UIs and backend processes that support Algo Developers (ADs) and Traders in overseeing trading processes, executing manual trades, assessing risk, and researching improvements to trading strategies. The role involves working with complex strategies, large quantities of market data, and contributing significantly to HRT's trading infrastructure.

The Core Web Engineer will collaborate with ADs, Core Engineers, and others to build backend processes for ingesting and transforming data, as well as creating front ends to visualize that data quickly. They will have the opportunity to propose new features or products and own the implementation of significant parts of the research and trading infrastructure. The primary goal is to create impactful tools used daily in creating trading strategies, ultimately impacting HRT’s success.

The Role Involves:

  • Building UIs and backend processes
  • Overseeing trading processes and executing manual trades
  • Assessing risk and researching strategy improvements
  • Working with large quantities of market and financial data
  • Collaborating with ADs and Core Engineers
  • Developing new features and products

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid backend coding practices and building reliable systems
  • Excellent coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of UNIX operating systems
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience with Python and/or C++
  • Passion for UX and building human-focused technological solutions
  • Willingness to learn and grow as an engineer
