Senior Python Engineer

Job Description

Hudson River Trading is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join their team in Austin, TX. This role involves working within a small, highly productive team where the code developed is critical to the firm's business. Unlike typical assumptions, developers at HRT are integral to the company's operations and are provided with the necessary resources to excel.

The primary programming languages used at HRT are C++ for latency-sensitive tasks and Python for everything else. The Python Engineer will have the opportunity to work in cutting-edge distributed compute environments, collaborating with researchers and engineers to build high-impact products and streamline the trade cycle.

Responsibilities:

• Develop software that reaches every office and department at HRT.
• Use the latest technologies and techniques in Python and software engineering to drive improvements to systems.
• Improve job orchestration and scheduling in the compute cluster.
• Build Python tooling and environments for all developers.
• Deploy, automate, and monitor systems for global trade management and post-trade analysis.
• Build systems for hardware verification and tooling.
• Write software that supports data ETL pipelines covering all types of inputs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep Python experience with recent standards.
• Advanced knowledge of the Python ecosystem and best practices.
• Superior design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of UNIX operating systems (Linux), system/processor performance, and network communication.
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications.
• Ability to analyze and improve code.
